Introduction to Remote Sensing

About Course

A beginner-to-moderate course on how satellites observe the Earth. You will learn the spectrum, resolution, Landsat and Sentinel-2, image interpretation, and a first vegetation index. Lessons point to USGS, Copernicus, and NASA ARSET material.

What Will You Learn?

  • Explain passive and active remote sensing in plain language
  • Choose an image using spatial, spectral, and temporal resolution
  • Read true-colour and false-colour composites
  • Compute the idea of NDVI and know when not to trust it
